Here in episode 2 I’m sharing the behind the scenes of how I built my custom chicken coop aka Cluckingham Palace 🙂
Check out the completed tour HERE
The coop currently houses our 3 hens and they are thriving in there with lots of space for all of their needs.
MEASUREMENTS: This coop measures 6”L x 3”W x 7”H with a 6”L x 8”W x 7”H run. I used 2×4’s for the entire structure, except the legs which were 4×4. The legs from the ground to the bottom of the chicken coop are 36 inches, and the supports for the legs are 16 inches.
I custom finished the exterior using a wood burning technique called Sho Sugi Ban. You can check out more about this process in my upcoming video. It gives a really nice rustic finish and also weather proofs the wood. Perfect for our Canadian climate!
I also insulated the coop so that we can over-winter our birds. This will be our first year doing this so if you have any tips please let us know in the comments!
Got questions about Cluckingham Palace?? Drop ‘em in the comments and I’ll do my best to answer 😀
